Restoring the machines! (Or, how to risk electric shock and losing various body parts)

There are some good sites out there to give you pointers on restoring an arcade machine. As I haven't actually *done* it yet, I don't have much personal experience to offer. However, as I begin and actually do it, this will probably change :) Until then . . .

Probably the best site I know of so far is the Arcade Restoration Workshop. Check out the Guide To Restorations and Restoration Stories sections, as well as the Links to Other Restoration Sites section.

Big Den's Gameroom has a recommended Restoration Zone to visit as well.

Another decent site is Jame's Homepage. Check out the three restoration projects he's got listed: PacMan, Space Invaders, and Defender.

Russ's Arcade Collecting Page is another site for examples on restoration.

An absolute, must visit site is RandyFrommcom -- His Technical Department has an absolute wealth of valuable information on the inner workings of arcade machines. Making the cabinet and controls pretty is all well and good, but if the guts don't work . . .
